ABOUT
The Midnight Potter, is often called the Midnight Sun Potter because she lives in the land of the midnight sun, also known as the great state of Alaska, USA. However, she found herself at the wheel for many nights at midnight and so she adopted the name, the Midnight Potter in the 1990's.
Adventures with clay began in the 1970's in elementary school and continued in the 1980's in high school, continuing on as her focus in college. Alas, a second focus was needed to ensure a steady income in the future, so she also studied drafting and Autocad design software.
After a few years of working in the oil & gas industry, she restarted her pursuit of throwing clay. She found that showing other people how to throw clay was a satisfying aspect so she she began teaching wheel throwing classes in a commercial warehouse space. This led to retailing supplies and hosting a consignment gallery as well. As a small business, every day had its struggles. During 2023-2024, the pandemic recovery years, the shoe-string budget broke and the retail store and gallery part of the business closed. Classes also ceased and downsizing commenced.
After 40 plus years in the clay world, the Midnight Potter now focuses on fulfilling the pursuit of a functional potter to create beautiful hand made pottery for your use.
